Why I Work from Home
There are many reasons why I choose to work from home. Among them: avoiding rush hour; avenging 15 years of an hour-long NYC commute; and evading boundary-ignoring clients. But the best reason I can think of is the one I see every time I step out onto my 38th floor Marina City balcony. Take a look at the video and see whether you agree. Yes folks, it’s a long way down.

That’s a pretty sweet setup you’ve got there. I tend to rotate my office around from one coffee shop to the next mixed in with the occasional wine bar or something of that nature. So far that will have to do for me.

We’re giving up our view of the LA basin for a 15th floor view of Montrose Harbor and Chicago’s far north side.
We also work from home, and looked at places in your neighborhood, but since we’re still attached to our LA automobile, the parking fees were more than we wanted to pay.
So, in a years time, we hope to find ourselves CARLESS, with a downtown view from our home office.

Considering where you’ll be living, going carless will definitely be an option. You won’t be far from the Red Line or the express buses on LSD (Lake Shore Drive).

FINALLY! A look at your abode. It’s bigger than it looks on a floorplan — or maybe that’s just a trick of the video. Very sweet. I’m liking the mid-century vibe and especially those orange chairs. Cute kitty, too.
Thanks. Feels bigger, too. It’s wider than it looks, is the trick. About 20 feet at the widest. The chairs were from my old friend (and ex) Devyn. He got me into mid-century. They need re-upholstered like no one’s business, though thanks to Camoes.
Exactly! I also work from home (near Nashville, TN). I have started a ning network for those of us alternative-worker types. Would love to have you stop by and join up. Also, do you mind if I post a link to this entry? We’re a small group right now, but we’re growing daily. Hope to eventually become a place for homebasers to meet, share, and support each other (as well as helping to give cube-dwellers a peek into our worlds).
