Message from Mom

I was doing some spring cleaning this afternoon. I was looking for things to throw out amid several boxes of old junk. I came across a small, white greeting card with two birds and a vine with some flowers on the front of it. Here’s what it said:

8/94

To Michael,

I love you very much even though you don’t want to believe it. Happy Birthday, you’ll always be my baby.

Mommie

I believed it then and 14 years later I still do. Mom passed away in January 1996 and I miss her.

And for the foreseeable future, I’ll have a greeting card living on top of my TV.

  1. OK, that one made a lump in my throat.

  2. You and me both!
