Sorry to contradict you, West Tower, but when I jumped out of my shower and ran out of my apartment to use the fastest method for contacting security -- all of my neighbors were peaking out their slightly open doors. So it wasn't "only" the front desk that was alerted, it was everyone on the floor who had to listen to the fire alarms in their units just because mine was overly sensitive.

West Tower, I wish that made me feel better. But have you seen our building staff? Speaking as a single gay man, I would much rather have a Chicago fireman catch me in the shower.

Some clarification on the new fire alarm system. The smoke detector only alerts the front desk - so don't worry about CFD catching you in the shower. However, the heat detector does call the FD but requires very high temps to do so.
